Birthday Boy

It’s the third Throwback Thursday of this year’s February Photofest which means it’s time for the start of a new theme. This week’s theme is tributes. I am a fan of a tribute! My first one was back in April 2015 with this Bourdin-inspired shot and various ones have appeared along the way, right up to this homage last month. So, for seven days I will present my interpretation of an image by seven of my favourite photographers.

Today’s inspiration is Mapplethorpe (again!) and for Throwback Thursday I am not going very far back – just to day nine of Exhibit A’s recent December Dick Fest. All I have done to modify the below from December’s post is flip the photo so the leg is facing in the same direction as the inspiration shot above. This was an accidental tribute; I only noticed the similarity when I was flicking through images to prepare for this week’s theme. But I am glad I spotted it as it allows me to use the photo of this chap on his birthday.

Happy Birthday! Xxx

February Photofest

How rude!

How rude!

I don’t mean him standing there brazenly wanking for my camera, teasing me from the other side of the room? That’s fine. That’s always welcome.

I’m talking about him flipping the bird. You mean you hadn’t noticed? Were you too busy looking at the blur of his hand on his hard cock?

Don’t worry. I must confess, it took me a while to notice what he was doing when I was taking the photograph. Sometimes it’s impossible to resist focusing in on the finer detail so you miss the bigger picture.

Side note: this has rapidly become one of my favourite photos of EA. It’s not a good photo; it’s badly lit and out of focus in a way that’s only half-disguised by the edit. But it makes me giggle every time I look at it.

Rise and Shine

“You want to do a photo in your red underwear for my February Photofest?”

“Of course.”

There are some photos that I’d really rather have taken myself. Photography is my favourite kind of foreplay. Alas, distance gets in the way of some of my creative ambitions! But stirring on a Saturday morning and finding a beautiful hard cock sent across the miles and time zones as I slept was a welcome wake-up call.

“Crop and edit as necessary,” said the accompany message.

So I took matters into my own hands. In more ways than one. It was a lovely start to the weekend.

February Photofest

Underwear

@Kinky_Gent first expressed interest in participating in E40 back in spring 2016 when he was over in the UK for work and we met for coffee. Our paths haven’t crossed since so I’ve yet to photograph him myself but in early December this self-portrait appeared in my DM with a question about whether it was of possible interest for the blog. Yes, it most definitely is of interest! As soon as I saw this weekend’s prompt I knew I wanted to save this shot for today – after all, what is more routine than pulling on our underwear?

Although I’d messed around with wearing a girlfriend’s knickers many years ago, and not in a particularly kinky manner, during 2017 I experimented more and more deliberately.

A special lady knew of my curiosity and shared an interest in men wearing lingerie. Neither of us are into full transformations or cross dressing but rather discrete wearing of knickers and stockings in private or under everyday dress. With her to encourage me, I explored this more and more in 2017 to the point where she kindly gave me these Marks and Spencer specials from her collection, which had a visible impact as you can see!

It surprised me how many women enjoy the idea of men wearing (their) lingerie and it’s certainly made me wonder how many more are open to that. Usual vanilla depictions are often of a wife being appalled and running for the divorce lawyer – I’d be curious how many would actively encourage their men to try it?

To that special lady – thank you so much for what you brought to fruition last year, let’s do more in 2018!

Sinful Sunday

Small World

The locations have been the stars of my last two Sinful Sundays. Today we’re stripping it back down and letting the body do the talking. And when I say we’re letting the body do the talking, you should know that this man completed a 100 mile run just 48 hours before I took this photo. I’m not sure if it’s the aesthetic or the accomplishment that makes this photo so hot to me…

But there’s a back story here. The man lives in America. The five hours we spent together last Tuesday may be the only time we ever spend together. If that’s how it is, so be it – it was awesome! But I kind of hope there’ll be more, one day…

We met on OKC where there’s no reference to E40 or my exhibitionist tendencies. In the chat leading up to him arriving in the UK for his race he asked me about partners. I talked a little about how relationships work for me and referenced my Always Coming Second post. “I’d like to read that,” he said. I told him the name of the blog but warned of the nudes and said I could email a document instead.

His reply?

“I chuckled and appreciated the lengths you went to to ensure that I would not be offended. ‘If only she knew?’ I thought. It was funny to see that you participate in Molly’s Sinful Sundays. A girlfriend from a few years back followed the posts and we would always comment on them together.”

Is that not BRILLIANT?! A completely random connection on a vanilla dating site where our primary common ground is distance running and small business ownership. What a small world! I’m so delighted to move him out of looking at Sinful Sunday and into participating in it. Although I must confess that came more from my desire to show off the photo and tell the story in this little online diary than a burning desire from him to be here! But I’m very happy he said I could use it…

Sinful Sunday

Concentration

I’ve written before about the quandary as a body positivity blogger of posting photos of the bits I love and viewpoints from which I know I look great, versus focusing honestly on the bits I’m not always that happy with. Do we focus on what make us feel fabulous or accept all of it? I usually opt for the former. It’s rare for you to ever see a shot of my big belly or differently shaped and not very pert breasts.

IMG_8795 (3)A few months back I was photographing Exhibit A for his Mapplethorpe homage. After shooting the image we ultimately chose (this one using an old Box Brownie) we tried a couple of shots with him holding my current Canon camera. It didn’t work half as well as the image with the old camera but what did come out of it was the shot below. I didn’t realise that he was photographing me with my camera as I photographed him with my iPhone. And,  strangely, I love the resulting image – rolls and all! I love that I’m completely unaware of my posture and not tugging my shoulders back or sitting up straight to reduce the appearance of my belly. I love the look of concentration in my eyes. And I love that unbeknown to me my complete comfort and contentment in that moment was being captured.

Sinful Sunday

Frame, Reframe, Celebrate

“Thank you for this! I love it. And you, and this community, have made that love possible. Five years ago, a photo that showed my rolls and folds would have made me cry. But now, I see how sensual and celebratory a photo like this can be.” Maria Merian

This was Maria’s comment on her portrait yesterday. And it rings true. I know that if anyone had told me a couple of years ago that I would be excited about posting this photo with my big belly on full glorious display I would have laughed out loud. Many of us frequently make reference to how much this community has done to increase our self-confidence and sense of our own beauty but I think it’s worth saying again and again. Molly does many brilliant things (and I’m pretty sure there’ll be more evidence of that in a few days!) but I think Sinful Sunday and February Photofest are the ones where the ripple effect makes such a profound difference to people’s lives. So, again, THANK YOU!

I have loved participating in February Photofest and you can see all my photos here. Aside from giving this month a black and white theme, I wanted it to embody the spirit of Exposing 40, which is an exuberant celebratory collaboration. Sometimes we’re silly, sometimes we’re thoughtful, sometimes we’re intimate, but we’re always having fun!

This month I’ve posted 11 portraits I’ve taken of others, 10 that have been taken of me by others and 7 self portraits. And how much fun it has been! There’s been new photo adventures with friends, I’ve used photos that had previously only been in my personal library and have delved into the archives for Throwback Thursday and smiled at the memories. I’ve photographed and been photographed by a valued partner of many years and a new lover who I only started chatting to on the 1st of the month! Of course, that one’s at the exciting who-knows-where-this-will-go-but-it’s-fun stage, but I love that he’s found his way onto February Photofest. I wonder if my secret dating superpower is being able to find people who want to be photographed naked?!

In total, 15 people have participated in my February Photofest either in front of or behind the camera. Framing, reframing and celebrating. Thank you! Same time same place next year?
